It's true that this is on of the most AMAZING coats I have ever seen. I love the oversized knit collar and am determined to create a knit collar with the same effect. The head piece is also incredible and I am currently working on making something similar.

The Best Imaginary Bars Part II
Click to watch the Fishermen in Action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_gVCwINrrA
This is the house band at the Fisherman Club from the movie DOA in San Francisco. Need I say more? Not only does the Fishermen have the most AMAZING band ever, but it also has the most incredible patrons in movie history. Just have a look at the fellow above...you can't tell, but he's saying "Lay off me man I'm being enlightened." Indeed. This is one of the best jazz clubs in Noir and I have longed to go there ever since I watched DOA. The Fisherman is one of those bars that looks sort of creepy and no good from the outside and then you walk in and find that they just happen to have the best jazz band in San Fran. This never happens in real life. I've tried it. I have walked into the worst dives fully expecting to find an amazing jazz band and a rowdy audience of drunk hep cats. I usually find frat boys and low cut jeans. Alas.
The Best Imaginary Bars Part I
With my birthday rapidly approaching I usually start to think about where I would like to go and what I would like to do. The problem is that no matter where I go it could NEVER compare to the amazing places my favorite on screen characters hang out. With this in mind, I begin the "Best Imaginary Places I can Never Go Because The Don't Exist" series. That's right. I sit around and fantasize about what it would be like to go to places that never were.
Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of living inside of the movie Bell Book and Candle. It was one of those movies that completely captured me and I would watch it over and over again, swirling a mock tail in my living room in my best witch dress and practically aching inside because it wasn't real. I used to imagine that the Zodiac Club was a real place that I could find if I ever got the chance to wander the streets of New York. Now, almost 28 years old, and still I can think of no place I would rather spend a snowy night having a drink and listening to bongos. I've tried to make my own little Zodiac where ever I go but I see little of the likes of Kim Novak in her amazing black dress and more drunk hipsters. No comparison. Ah well maybe I'll spend this birthday in my living room watching the movie and indulging in sparkling cider.

The Chair
I have braught many an item home from the street. Most of the time the item ends up in the "To Do" pile somewhere in my cramped apartment taking up space and generally annoying the whole family, dogs included. This is not what happened however, with....The Chair.... Yes I was excited that I managed to not only take the tattered ugly thing into our home, but actually finish it and make it look quite nice. I striped it to its bones and purchased a soft velvety (fake velvety) fabric. After that it was just me, the chair, and the trusty staple gun alone in the kitchen listening to old episodes of "Sam Spade". Two hours and 100 staples later I had a perfectly good chair!
